The Coasts

The Coasts put on a great show, with the help of their support bands to get the audience moving. As you will see by the images, there definitely was not a shortage of colour throughout the entire gig.

Like the Brit Floyd concert, I decided to focus on the musicians as individuals rather than a whole. I wanted to see how differently each musician positions themselves, and how their body language projects how they associate with the music.

I mainly used my 1.8 50mm lens, so that I was able to capture one musician at time. Although I used my 2.8 Fish-eye lens, I stuck mostly with the 50mm lens so that I had more power with the main focal point of each image.

The Klaxons

The Klaxons fell off the grid for a few years, but they are back with a new album titled Love Frequency, as well as a tour starting in Norwich, and ending in Germany. I was able to photograph their first gig in Norwich. I hadn’t heard of them before, but decided to photograph them based on their energetic presence on stage. Knowing that this was their first gig in a few years, I didn’t expect The Waterfront to be as packed as it was.

The support group were a duo called the Thumpers. I had never listened to their music before, but I thoroughly enjoyed their set! They projected a calm, yet atmospheric vibe that the audience soaked up.

I focused on photographing the band, as well as the audience. I wanted to get some close ups of the musicians, as well as focusing on individuals within the crowd. I also wanted to capture the lighting that is used throughout the set in order to create a harmonious effect.

Brit Floyd

Brit Floyd was an absolutely mind blowing experience. This concert was very different to the concerts that I usually attend/photograph. Knowing some information as to how Pink Floyd concert usually pan out (thank you Dad!), I was very much excited to photograph the British Tribute band, Brit Floyd.

The concert was packed FULL of colourful strobe lights and weird home-made videos. There were various occasions were I found myself starring at the band, rather than taking photos!
I wanted to concentrate on photographing each individual section of the band, there were more than 7 or 8 band members on stage; therefore I wanted to focus on photographing them more as individuals, rather than as a whole.

I would absolutely see this tribute band again, although they can not compare with the original Pink Floyd (these are the words of my father, I could only wish to see the original members perform!), they are close to the real thing as you can get.
