Maui Waui Festival 2014

I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a photo pass and head over to Maui Waui Festival a couple of weekends ago. This was Maui Waui’s second year running, and it is definitely growing in popularity despite it only being in its second year. The festival, located in Suffolk, attracts some interesting characters.

The performances and performers were also interesting and unique; one musician that stood out for me was Pirate Joe. Although his name is not the most attracting element, he does indeed look like a stereotypical pirate. Despite this, his performance was by far the best I have seen. The energy that he packed into his performance was elevated into the crowd, his stage presence was joyful, and he got just about everyone in the Flavour Parlour tent dancing.

Fantastical Contraptions

There were tents and attractions that catered for just about everyone that attended. The festival was child friendly and showed this through the many stalls and workshops that were devoted to the creative. This included a theatre tent, an acrobatic display and workshops that involved making things out of paper mâché and brightly coloured paint (what more could you want)!

Dancers!

Although I have attended festivals such as Slam Dunk, this was my first proper three day festival experience. I didn’t allow myself to do any research as to what the bands and artists sounded like; I just packed my camera, and a bottle of water, and went. I know for sure that I will be going back next year!

Its a hard life..

The food at Maui was delightful; it catered for the vegetarians and the vegans, as well as the meat eaters, which is very rare considering festival food usually resembles cardboard!
Here are some photos from the weekend. I hope you enjoy looking at them, as much as I enjoyed taking them!
